Shikra is a small raptor or bird of prey, with light brown bands on its chest - Accipiter badius! The juvenile Shikra almost looks like an adult in size but it still has time to be as efficient a predator as an adult. The colour of the plumage is still very brown with whitish streaks. The colour of the eyes are yellow as compared to the reddish colouration in adults. A lone male shikra (Accipiter badius) perches on a tree in an open woodland. Shikras are found in woodlands, grassland, semi-urban areas and even urban habitats. They feed on reptiles, smaller mammals, amphibians.
