Multiple woodpecker species across forested habitats in Uttarakhand, India, each showing distinct foraging and maintenance behaviour. A Rufous-bellied Woodpecker (Dendrocopos hyperythrus) climbs along a tree trunk, probing bark with repeated drilling and creating small pits associated with sap feeding. A Lesser Yellownape (Picus chlorolophus) perches along the trunk and scratches itself while remaining anchored to the bark.
