With his dhoti blowing in the wind, a Bengali boatman rows in narrow mangrove swamps and tiger habitat of the Sundarbans mangrove forests. One mis-step and the boat could get stuck in the swampy land, or a tiger could leap out of the undergrowth! Mangrove Interpretation Centre in Sunderbans, West Bengal. A Sunderbans boatman rows his boat with great effort. The entire Sundarban area is interspersed with an intricate network of criss-cross channels and creeks dividing the area into innumerable deltaic islands. These channels ultimately find their ways to the Bay of Bengal through one or other of the Principal estuaries.
