A Brown-headed Barbet plucks wild kumquats straight from the tree, swallowing the small fruits whole between quick pauses on the branches. This stout green barbet is common across the Indian subcontinent, especially in gardens, orchards, and wooded habitats where fruiting trees are abundant. Primarily frugivorous, Brown-headed Barbets play an important ecological role as seed dispersers, helping regenerate forests as they move between feeding sites.
