Members of the Brokpa community perform traditional songs and dances during the annual Apricot Blossom Festival, locally known as Chuli Mendok, in the Aryan Valley of Ladakh. Held each spring as apricot orchards burst into bloom, the festival marks the arrival of the new season while celebrating the unique cultural traditions of this Himalayan community. The performances are accompanied by traditional Ladakhi instruments including the Daman, a pair of copper kettle drums covered with cowhide, and the Surna, a double-reed wind instrument traditionally crafted from willow wood. Together, these instruments create the rhythmic foundation for the festival's folk music and dances.
