Members of the Brokpa tribe perform traditional songs and dances during the annual Apricot Blossom Festival, locally known as Chuli Mendok, in the Aryan Valley of Ladakh. Held each spring as apricot orchards burst into bloom, the festival celebrates the arrival of the new season while showcasing the unique cultural heritage of one of the Himalayas' most distinctive communities. The performances are accompanied by the Daman, a pair of copper kettle drums covered with cowhide that provide the rhythmic foundation of Ladakhi folk music, and the Surna, a traditional double-reed wind instrument crafted from willow wood. The women wear traditional woollen robes known as Kho (or Chuba) along with elaborate floral headdresses called Tepi, decorated with fresh flowers, silver ornaments, coins, ribbo
