A male Grey Bushchat (Saxicola ferreus) perched on a branch with a freshly caught grasshopper held firmly in its beak. Recognizable by its silvery-grey plumage, black facial mask, bold white eyebrow stripe, and pale underparts, the Grey Bushchat is a skilled insect hunter commonly found in the Himalayan foothills and mountain landscapes. In an impressive display of aerial agility, the bird briefly launches from its perch, circles through the air with rapid wingbeats, and then returns to the very same branch. This behavior is typical of bushchats, which often use elevated perches as hunting lookouts, making short flights to capture insects before returning to their favored vantage point.
