A female Plumbeous Water Redstart (Phoenicurus fuliginosus) hops across a moss-covered ground and perches on a lichen-covered branch in a green hill forest. Her soft grey plumage is finely scaled with pale spots, and she has a small dark eye and a slim black bill. Females are paler and more speckled than the slate-blue males, which have a bright chestnut tail. This species is found near fast-flowing Himalayan streams, where it flicks its tail and catches insects. This clip offers a close, relaxed look at the bird as she moves about among the moss and leaves.
