A female Indian Peafowl (Pavo cristatus), commonly known as a peahen, moving through a grassy habitat in Wilderness Orchard, New Delhi, India. The bird is identified by its brown and grey plumage, white underparts, and iridescent green neck. After walking through the grassland, the peahen briefly breaks into a run before stopping at a suitable spot on the ground. Using its feet, it scratches and loosens the soil before settling into a shallow depression. The bird then engages in grooming and dust-bathing behavior, ruffling and spreading its feathers to maintain plumage condition and help remove parasites.
