Rupin Dang conducted and filmed this interview several decades back in the front yard of Valmik Thapar's house in Chanakyapuri, when Project Tiger was on the verge of turning 20. Peter Jackson, eminent conservationist, speaks of the Cat group of the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature and natural resources). It is a union of governments, governmental departments and non-governmental organizations concerned with conservation. The Cat group has 140 members from 35 countries around the world. We have been meeting here in India mainly with the Indian members of the group to discuss the serious threat to the tiger which is arising from poaching of tigers for harvesting tiger bones which are being smuggled to China for use in medicine.
