Post the Kumbh Mela, Haridwar and Rishikesh have been receiving pilgrims and the devout in large numbers. See this expansive aerial view of the Ganges as seen from the Hindu pilgrim town at the base of the Himalaya where the Ganges enters the plains out of the confines of its mountainous flow. The massive religious tourism infrastructure can be seen here, with every inch of space covered by visitors and the Hindu devout, as well as commercial and residentials establishments catering to their visitation and religious needs. Even the Ganga canal that passes through Haridwar is flowing at its highest flow. Any higher, and the multiple houses, ashrams and buildings would be flooded at the ground floor levels.
