See an estuarine egret and a heron in Kerala, India. Different varieties of birds can see throughout the backwaters, showcasing a mystifying collection of unique birds. Among the pantheon of the general bird population it is an ideal place for tourists to enjoy the serene loveliness of the environs. The main attractions are local birds like the waterfowl, Cormorants, cuckoo, egret, heron and various species of duck. White necked Storks can also be seen between October-May, Lesser Pied Kingfisher is another common bird along the lakes. Great Indian Hornbill is seen in evergreen areas. The largest population in the Western Ghats is at Kumarakom. Woodpecker species are residents of the deciduous forests. Brahminy Kite is seen singly or in pairs. Birds abound around Kuttanand and Vembanad Lake
