A female Oriental Pied Hornbill (Anthracoceros albirostris) regurgitates food into the nest cavity of an Indian Grey Hornbill (Ocyceros birostris). She fed both the incubating female and later on, her chicks, in an extraordinary example of cross-species foster care. The male Grey Hornbill remained nearby, often getting chased away by the Pied Hornbill. Filmed in slow motion, this sequence captures one of the most remarkable episodes in the now-famous Lodhi Garden hornbill saga. Beginning in May 2026, birders documented a female Oriental Pied Hornbill repeatedly visiting an Indian Grey Hornbill nest to deliver food, despite the chicks belonging to another species.
