A herd of spotted deer (Axis axis) or chital deer grazes in lush green grass. Amidst bird calls overhead, they browse at the shoots of the grass. In the absence of soft shoots, they nibble at the top end of the grass. The species is native to India and is sexually dimorphic, with males characterized by antlers and the females devoid of antlers. The spots covering their bodies are unique to this species of deer.
