Two Himalayan Grey Langur perched high among the trees in Motidhar. These graceful primates, also known as Hanuman langurs, are among the most recognizable mammals of the Himalayan foothills. With their silvery-grey coats, long limbs, elongated tails, and distinctive black faces, they are perfectly adapted for life in the forest canopy. The langurs are seen resting on elevated branches, a common behavior that provides safety from ground predators and offers an excellent vantage point for monitoring their surroundings. Highly social animals, Himalayan Grey Langurs live in troops and communicate through vocal calls, body language, and grooming. Their primarily leaf-based diet helps shape forest ecosystems, making them an important part of the Himalayan wildlife community.
