A male Purple Sunbird (Cinnyris asiaticus) in its striking breeding plumage as it actively explores a flowering tree in a wilderness orchard. During the breeding season, the male's feathers display an iridescent metallic sheen, appearing deep blue, purple, or glossy black depending on the angle of sunlight. The bird exhibits its characteristic energetic behavior, constantly moving up and down through the branches in search of food. It carefully inspects leaves, flowers, and twigs, likely looking for nectar, small insects, and spiders. Its restless and curious nature is evident as it rarely remains in one place for long.
