A pair of kauvas sit at their nest and nurture their new born chicks. Left alone for lengths of time while the parents head out into the field to search for food, these chicks could well be preyed upon by other birds, just as crows themselves eat eggs and chicks of other nesting birds, from their nests! It's a bird eat bird world out there, after all... even as these chicks sit about passing traffic, in a mulberry tree they call home. Chicks struggle for their parents' attention, squawking and opening their beaks even as their eyes are closed and they are essentially blind to the world. Big red gapes stick up above their black forming bodies, begging for food! A Kauwa or Corvus splendens - the House Crow of India. Blue eggs speckled with brown sit in the nest alongside newly-hatched chicks
