In this beautiful wildlife footage, we witness the behaviour of the Sambar deer (Rusa unicolor) inside the legendary Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan. Known for being the largest deer species in India, the Sambar plays an important role in the forest ecosystem and is a key prey species for tigers. In this video, a Sambar deer is seen rubbing its head and antlers against a tree trunk, a natural behaviour often linked to scent marking, maintaining antler strength, or relieving itching. Nearby, another deer feeds on fresh leaves from above, while a third individual scratches its head using thin branches.
