Amazing bird of prey spotted while having its meal. This eagle was feeding from a Chital deer carcass at Keoladeo National Park, in Bharatpur. Although a bird o f prey, this animal would have been too big for this eagle to prey from. Usually steppe eagles feed on small birds, mammals, reptiles and frogs but they are also known to steal feed from other birds of prey and feed on fresh carrion of all kinds. The steppe eagle (Aquila nipalensis) belongs to the family Accipitridae. These steppe eagle species are distributed in Europe, Asia, Indian subcontinent, Africa and the Middle East; they mostly inhabit open dry habitats, such as desert, semi-desert, steppes and savannah.
