Hudhud has a long beak and a crest that makes it look like a hammerhead bird Hoopoe and Striated Laughing Thrush with its tall jaunty crest at wildfilmsindia Jabbarkhet in September 2023. The Hoopoe loves grubs, insects and larvae and works assiduously to turn up soil for its quarry. The Hudhud or Upupa epops is the common Eurasiean Hoopoe. The familiar Common or Eurasian Hoopoe has a wide distribution across, Asia, India and Europe, and lives from plains to high altitudes. How nice to see a Hoopoe, a bird that is fast disappearing from our big cities, but was always a fixture when our cities were towns and much smaller, with gardens and open spaces, with old trees that had cavities for Hoopoes or hudhud to nest in! This one was seen at 7200 feet altitude in the Himalaya, on a dry deoedar
