Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter - Mi17 landing at Kedarnath valley heli-pad and base camp for dropping miscellaneous items. The devotees and workers wait for the chopper to land so that, tired and religiously satisfied, they can make their way down from the valley of Kedarnath. Out come rations and supplies and in go pilgrims and travellers. The chopper sways and bobs in the high mountain winds as it lands, unsure for a few seconds, but then stable and steady, at the Kedarnath heli-pad. This is the same sector on which a similar Indian Air Force Mi-8 Russian helicopter crashed while rescuing flood victims in 2013. The entire brave and dedicated IAF crew and their 'rescued' passengers died in the crash. Such is the price one pays for operating under difficult Himalayan conditions and that
