In Jabbarkhet, a Rufous Sibia (Heterophasia capistrata), a bird species native to the Himalayas, is seen perched on a tree branch bearing oak marble galls. These galls are abnormal, round growths that form on oak twigs when gall wasps lay their eggs, triggering a growth response in the plant tissue. The sibia is actively pecking at and feeding on the galls, likely extracting insect larvae from within. This behavior reflects the species’ adaptable foraging strategy and highlights a natural ecological interaction between birds, insects, and oak trees.
