An Indian Grey Hornbill, one of the most widespread and recognizable hornbill species found across the Indian subcontinent. Perched high in a tree, the bird is engaged in feeding behavior, using its large curved bill to pluck fruits from the branches. The Indian Grey Hornbill is easily identified by its predominantly ashy-grey plumage, pale underparts, long graduated tail, and distinctive dark bill topped with a prominent casque. Although less colorful than many tropical hornbills, it is a striking and charismatic bird that plays an important role in forest ecosystems. Primarily frugivorous, Indian Grey Hornbills feed on a variety of fruits, berries, figs, and occasionally insects and small vertebrates.
