A Globe Skimmer dragonfly (Pantala flavescens), also known as the Wandering Glider or Yellow Skimmer, resting on a slender green leaf in Wilderness Orchard. This species is recognized by its yellowish-orange body and broad translucent wings marked with a fine network of veins. Globe Skimmers are among the most widely distributed dragonflies in the world and are commonly found near wetlands, grasslands, gardens, and agricultural landscapes. The species is renowned for undertaking one of the longest known insect migrations, with multigenerational journeys spanning thousands of kilometers across regions including the Indian Ocean.
