A blue whistling thrush (Myophonus caeruleus) perched among the forests and streams of the Himalaya. Known for its striking cobalt-blue plumage and powerful, melodious calls, the blue whistling thrush is one of the most recognisable birds of the Himalayan region. Found along rocky streams, forested valleys and mountain slopes across South and Southeast Asia, this bird is often heard before it is seen, with its haunting whistles echoing through the quiet mountain landscape. The species is closely associated with fast-flowing Himalayan streams, where it forages along the water's edge for insects, small fish, crustaceans and other prey. Its deep blue feathers and bright markings make it a spectacular sight against the lush green forests and misty mountains of its high-altitude habitat.
