The Red-vented Bulbul isn't a particularly pugnacious bird but these people make them fight, in Assam, India. This is animal / bird cruelty but fortunately, the Government of India has banned this practice. Sometimes even culture does have no bow to modern sensibilities! This particular footage was a major part of the campaign that helped ban the practice. So Youtube and online media can be major agents for change, as well! The red-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) is a member of the bulbul family of passerines. It is resident breeder across the Indian subcontinent, including Sri Lanka extending east to Burma and parts of Tibet. It has been introduced in many other parts of the world and has established itself in the wild on several Pacific islands including Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, and Hawaii.
