A cicada crawls up a tree trunk, trying to get camouflaged into the moss on the tree trunk. see its beady-beady eyes! Cicadas suck the sap of trees they live on. A Hill Barbet calls as this Cicada slowly clawls up an akhrot or walnut tree. The green colouration roughly matches the mosses on the tree trunk, giving it near perfect camouflage. In a rather rare and surprising sighting, a Cicada is seen at our Wilderness Films India forest in Motidhar, Uttarakhand. The insect is spotted on an old walnut tree trunk with a heavy growth of mosses and lichen. You can see the abdomen contract and retract as the call is made, and the chirruping sound gets modulated with the extension and retraction of the abdominal tip.
