An intimate peek into the private family life of a pair of Barbets and their young at the Wilderness Orchard in Delhi. A diligent Barbet nets within a hollow that it has excavated within a dead tree trunk. It brings in fresh fruit and berries for the young, and takes out their excrement to prevent insects, bacteria and other dangers from breeding within the next, or or attracting predators to the smell or decay and putrefaction. Among the fruit items being fed are the black berries of a curry leaf plantand the figs of Ficus glomerata or gular. Green Barbet feeds black berries of curry plant at nest in a Delhi garden: Wildlife exists in our city, you just need to open your eyes!
