Watch the long armed Hoolock Gibbons swinging from branches and from one tree to another, in the North-Eastern Indian state of Assam. These large, long-armed primates weigh around 6 - 9 kgs for an adult. The males and females are around the same size but whilst the males are black in colour, the females are a grey-brown. These monogomous animals reach full maturity at 8-9 yrs of age and live to around 25 years of age. The call of the Hoolock Gibbon is rather distinct and is used to place family members.
