This archival footage captures the Elephanta Caves, the UNESCO World Heritage rock-cut cave temple complex dedicated to Lord Shiva, located on Elephanta Island (Gharapuri) in Mumbai Harbour, Maharashtra. Massive basalt rock formations rise above the cave temples, surrounded by dense tropical forest. Visitors can be seen exploring the historic site and walking around the ancient cave entrances carved into the hillside. The footage also features a family of Bonnet Macaques (Macaca radiata) moving through the lush forest canopy, resting and foraging among the trees. Together, the ancient temples, towering rock formations, wildlife, and greenery showcase the unique cultural and natural heritage of Elephanta Island.
