Matthew Modine talks about his visit to the Dharavi Slums in Mumbai: "My first visit to India has so far been quite extraordinary. I have travelled to the islands of Elephanta. Everywhere I have gone I have been welcomed with open arms and big smiling faces! We could be in Miami beach, Florida right now. Except they are selling dosas and pakoras instead of popcorn. The purpose of going to 'Daravi' was to learn more about the work of Pratham. The problems a Not-for-profit organization is faced with, to teach children how to read in 45 days. The reason I visited Dharavi was to leave an impression of kindness. I am happy to be in India for my first Merchant-Ivory movie - The Divorce.
