White spots and speckles nicely adorn this powerful Eagle's plumage. The Crested Serpent Eagle actually eats snakes and hence its name. It also eats smaller birds, squirrels and mice/rats. Here, it consumes small prey while holding on to its quarry with its talons. When excited, the Spilornis chila can actually retract and bring forward its crest and look rather threatening, as it bends its head forward!
