Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) observed perched on a tree branch in Jabbarkhet. A Common Kestrel resting alertly on a branch within a mountainous woodland habitat. The bird displays characteristic brown upperparts with dark spotting and barring across the body, features commonly seen in females and juvenile kestrels. As a member of the falcon family, the species is known for its sharp eyesight and agile hunting behaviour. Although perched calmly in this scene, Common Kestrels are especially famous for their hovering flight technique, often called “windhovering,” where they remain suspended in the air while scanning the ground for rodents, insects, and small reptiles. The surrounding forested Himalayan landscape of Jabbarkhet provides suitable habitat for these adaptable birds of prey.
