Join our team on a drive through snow-covered mountain roads to Khardung La, one of India’s highest motorable mountain passes, situated approximately 40 km north of Leh in the Union Territory of Ladakh. At a measured elevation of 5,359 metres (17,582 feet) above sea level, the pass crosses the Ladakh Range and serves as a gateway to Nubra Valley and the Shyok Valley. The winding ascent traverses rugged, high-altitude terrain, with snow-covered slopes, exposed rock faces and expansive views across the stark mountain landscape. At this elevation, atmospheric pressure and available oxygen are significantly lower than at sea level, while rapidly changing weather can bring snowfall, strong winds and challenging road conditions. Beyond the pass, Nubra Valley lies between the Ladakh and Karakoram
