Early bird catches the worm indeed! In one big gobble this caterpillar is eaten up and then the male Robin looks all gorged and with a full mouth! That was a good meal for the migrant from the high mountains - exactly why it visits us each winter... This perky chirpy shy and retiring bird is the Orange flanked Bush Robin with its turquoise and orange feathers, and it is a lovely high altitude winter visitor at our forests at Motidhar in Mussoorie, heading back to the high mountains to breed each summer, and only spending the relatively more salubrious winters in the lower mountains of Uttarakhand.
