Thousands of Demoiselle Crane, locally known as Kurja, gather at the Pakshi Chugga Ghar in Khichan Village, Phalodi district, Rajasthan, India. These migratory birds travel each winter from parts of Central Asia, including Mongolia, to the Thar Desert, where they feed at the community-managed bird feeding enclosure. Dense flocks foraging on grain across the sandy feeding grounds while other cranes fly overhead against the desert sky. Traditional village houses and the Shree Pakshi Chugga Ghar Sanstha building, which manages the long-running conservation initiative, are visible in the background.
