A leopard died due to electric shock after it apparently jumped on a transformer in Gadhiya village in Amreli district while in pursuit of prey, a senior Forest official said. "The male big cat was found dead on the transformer of Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL) in a farm in Gadhiya village yesterday," said Anshuman Sharma, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Amreli. The officer said that prima facie the feline might have climbed up the electricity pole and jumped on the transformer to catch a prey, like bird, and suffered shock. "Birds like pigeons and peacocks usually sit on transformers and the leopard might have gone to attack them," Sharma said.
