Kaleej Pheasant at Corbett, India. This Pheasant is the most widespread to be found across the Himalaya. When a female calls, the male Pheasant starts displaying. Please notice this behaviour between 23 and 26 seconds on this clip! It also digs and scrabbles on the forest track, for seeds and insects and picks up a large seed to eat! The male is the more colourful of the birds and the female (a dull brown) follows the male in the shrubbery right at the end of the clip! Junglefowl are the four living species of bird from the genus Gallus in the Gallinaceous bird order, which occur in India, Sri Lanka, Southeast Asia and Indonesia. These are large birds, with colourful male plumage, but are nevertheless difficult to see in the dense vegetation they inhabit. As with many birds in the pheasant
