This footage documents a deceased Hornbill embryo lying on the ground beside fragments of a broken white eggshell. A large number of red ants swarm over both the embryo and the eggshell, feeding on the organic material. The sequence illustrates a natural ecological process in which scavenging insects break down animal remains and recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem. While the exact cause of the egg breaking cannot be determined from the footage alone, the scene records the role of ants as important decomposers in maintaining the natural balance of the environment.
