This super cute Nightjar shuffles along in the dark, shy and awkward at once... disturbed as it is in the desert at night. Medium sized nocturnal or crepuscular birds with short bills, short legs and long wings are known as Nightjars. They are sometimes referred to as goatsuckers as it is believed that they suck milk from goats. Nightjars generally reside on the ground. Viewer Roy Erling Wrånes points out that this is a Sykes's Nightjar (Caprimulgus mahrattensis). Thanks, Roy! Nightjars are found around the world.
