Ever seen a bird sun-bathe, and that too in 50 degrees Celcius? Watch this crazy hoopoe that has gone a little cookie! It turns its beak to the sun and sky and looks a little crazed in the heat, but it's actually just fine. Birds do this to get rid of ecto-parasites by heating up their bodies and making it unattractive for parasites to bum a ride! What a pleasant little bird with a pleasing personality, with a cheery crest that it raises from time to time, especially when landing and taking off. Found from the plains to higher altitudes, the Hoopoe is a nice addition to garden birding in our cities.
