In a rather surprising sighting, a Cicada is seen at our Wilderness Films India forest in Jabbarkhet, Uttarakhand. The insect is spotted on an old deodar tree trunk with a heavy growth of lichen. You can see the abdomen contract and retract as the call is made, and the chirruping sound gets modulated with the extension and retraction of the abdominal tip. Notice the movement of the abdominal region of the Cicada. You can actually see the loud call emanating from the cicada and see its body producing the very loud sounds that echo afar across Himalayan valleys!
