A Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri) carefully extracts and feeds on seeds from the pods of the Subabul tree (Leucaena leucocephala) in Delhi, India. Rose-ringed Parakeets are highly adaptable parrots found across much of the Indian subcontinent. Their strong, curved beaks are well suited for cracking open fruits, seeds, flowers, and pods, allowing them to exploit a wide variety of food sources in both urban and natural habitats. The Subabul tree, originally native to Central America but now widespread across India, produces abundant seed pods that provide a valuable food resource for many birds.
