A pair of majestic Himalayan Vulture rests on a steep rocky cliff ledge high in the alpine Himalayas. These enormous scavenging raptors are among the largest birds found in high-altitude mountain ecosystems, using elevated cliff faces and windy precipices as secure resting and nesting locations. The rugged mountain terrain surrounding the vultures features barren rocky slopes and dramatic vertical cliffs shaped by the harsh Himalayan environment. From these elevated perches, Himalayan Vultures depend on strong thermal air currents to launch into long-distance soaring flights while searching vast mountain landscapes for carrion. The footage captures the scale, behaviour, and specialised cliffside habitat of these powerful high-altitude birds of prey.
