A group of Painted Storks resting and nesting in a misty forest environment in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, one of India’s most important wetland bird habitats. A prominent stork stands perched on a tree branch with partially outstretched wings while several other birds remain visible in the background, reflecting the species’ highly social and colonial nesting behavior. Painted Storks are large wading birds easily recognized by their white plumage, black wing markings, bright pink tail feathers, and long yellow bills that curve slightly downward. Adult birds also possess a distinctive bare orange or reddish face, making them one of the most striking wetland birds found across the Indian subcontinent.
