Traditional sheep shearing is taking place in Harsil in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand. Men are seated on the ground, carefully removing wool from sheep using manual shearing tools, while women gather and collect the freshly removed fleece nearby. The activity forms part of a seasonal pastoral practice carried out in high-altitude villages where sheep rearing remains important for local livelihoods. Wool collected during the shearing process is later cleaned, spun, and used for making warm garments and household textiles suited to mountain climates. Groups of villagers are working together in an open outdoor setting surrounded by the rugged Himalayan landscape. The footage captures communal labour and traditional wool-processing practices in a Himalayan pastoral community.
