Traditional sheep shearing is taking place in the Himalayan region of Harsil, where pastoral communities prepare their flocks for seasonal weather changes. Local villagers, including members of Bhutia and Bakarwal pastoral groups, are seated on the ground using traditional hand tools to remove thick woollen fleeces from white sheep. The activity is commonly carried out once or twice a year, particularly during spring and autumn, in high-altitude grazing regions of Uttarakhand. Women and other community members are seen collecting and sorting the freshly shorn wool while large flocks wait nearby in fenced clearings. Outdoor cooking fires and groups gathered together indicate the communal nature of the seasonal work. The wool collected from these sheep is traditionally hand-spun and woven in
