A six-hour drive from Delhi towards the Garhwal hills in Uttar Pradesh in Nothern India is the Corbett National Park. One of the first National parks established in the country it bears the name of the legendary Englishmen hunter naturalists Jim Corbett who in his numerous books wrote evocatively of his exploits with the man eating tiger. The park stretches over an area of 1,300 sq. km in the Himalayan foothills and the river Ram Ganga flows through almost its entire length. Over 50 mammals 580 birds and 25 reptile species have been listed in Corbett but it is most famous for the Royal Bengal tiger.
