Neptis hylas, the common sailor, is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in the Indian subcontinent and southeast Asia. We found this one in a moist valley in Uttarakhand. Male butterflies mud-puddle to seek out nutrients in certain moist substances such as rotting plant matter, mud and carrion.
