Two Black-rumped Flameback, also known as the Lesser Golden-backed Woodpecker, are observed perched on trees in Wilderness Orchard. The birds vocalize with loud calls while surveying their surroundings from elevated perches. After a period of calling, they take flight and move to a nearby tree, demonstrating their active and agile behavior. Easily recognized by their brilliant golden backs, contrasting black rumps, and striking red crests, Black-rumped Flamebacks are among the most colorful woodpeckers found in the Indian subcontinent. Their calls and movements through the trees are a familiar sight and sound in forests, orchards, gardens, and wooded habitats across India.
